SOPREMA IRELAND involved in the rebirth of Priory Hall

In 2011, four years after they were built, the Priory Hall apartments were evacuated and shut down for building regulation compliance issues relating mainly to fire safety. During a five-year renovation project that began in 2014, SOPREMA helped bring the north Dublin complex up to current regulations by taking care of its new roof, balconies and podium decks.

Collaboration with Walsh Associates

In 2013, Dublin City Council took over Priory Hall with the aim of extensively refurbishing the building, earmarking a portion for social housing. Walsh Associates were appointed as the architects, along with SOPREMA, who were on board from the very beginning in phase one. The 187-unit development was stripped back to the concrete structure, and all of the buildings were rebuilt from there. SOPREMA collaborated closely with the architects and working with Titan Roofing as an approved installer for the roof, balconies and podium decks.

A new roof for New Priory

SOPREMA installed the new roof for New Priory, opting for a warm roof bitumen system. New balconies were installed with a warm roof construction which was finished with liquid ALSAN balcony systems. Lastly, a civils grade bitumen felt system was applied to the podium decks.

Superior balcony systems

SOPREMA was selected for the New Priory project mainly because of the balcony systems proposed, which were more robust and much less prone to damage than the other products being offered.

A project to be proud of

Not only were Walsh Associates very satisfied with the result, the general public were impressed by New Priory. The first newly developed apartments were launched in 2016 and sold completely in a matter of days. Another thirty apartments went on the market in September 2019, and while the last batch was delayed by COVID-19, it has recently been successfully completed.
