HISTORY OF SOPREMA

WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Strasbourg, 1908

Seeking to develop a fully waterproof fabric that would also be flexible and easy to install Charles Geisen found the solution by soaking jute fabric in hot bitumen. The result gave a lightweight but strong screed. Given the strength and durability in the screed he called it Mammoth and so the SOPREMA logo was born.

Owing their worldwide success to commitment to quality and innovation, the company has a century-old tradition of promoting new and bold ideas which permeate through all aspects of the business and is the world leader in waterproofing solutions.

The company was formed 1908 bringing years of specialization to the manufacture and development of waterproofing complexes. SOPREMA has always chosen to innovate, invest and anticipate the future while preserving the environment and its natural resources.

Thanks to continuous rigorous optimization by R&D departments SOPREMA’s waterproofing systems today provide outstanding performance in terms of resistance, reliability and durability.

A commitment to people

SOPREMA understands the importance of supporting employees and places great focus on good working conditions in factories and worksites. So strong is the company’s focus on workplace satisfaction that it includes it as part of its approach to sustainable development. The group’s policy of innovation is very much focused on the health and safety of employees and users of their products.
