Market leader in insulation and waterproofing systems acquires Belgium-based family company
The SOPREMA Group has grown again as a result of the acquisition of the De Boer company in Schoten, Belgium. Both family-run businesses have gained reputations worldwide as manufacturers of top-quality roofing products. As a result of the takeover, SOPREMA will expand its production capacity and look at the opportunities where there are synergies between the two companies. No jobs have been lost as a result of the acquisition.
It was the opportunity to expand its production capacity for bituminous membranes, as well as the complementary products and services that led to SOPREMA taking over De Boer this week. As a result, customers will still be able to depend on total expert solutions for roof coverings and insulation, as well as for green roofs and walls.
THE ACQUISITION OPENS UP MANY NEW OPPORTUNITIES
More and (even) stronger relations
Architects, roofing contractors, roofers, distributors, etc. are all primary target groups for both SOPREMA and De Boer so, in practical terms, the acquisition is an expansion of the customer base.
Retention of local products
Since it was first launched in 1989, DuO, the revolutionary concept created by De Boer, which combines a TPO upper side with an SBS underside, has grown into a successful range, with a service life demonstrated to be at least 35 years. The SOPREMA Group will also be including DuO as one of the flagship products in its own specifier range.
Both SOPREMA and De Boer manufacture bituminous membranes in Belgium, one in Grobbendonk the other in Schoten. As a result, the production capacity will now increase, while the top ranges complement each other nicely. These include Sopralene Optima from SOPREMA and DuO from De Boer Waterproofing Solutions. The other product categories also feature promising synergies. De Boer Plus (accessories for roofers) and De Boer Liquids go hand in hand with SOPREMA’s liquid waterproofing range, ALSAN. De Boer Safety focuses on the periodic inspection, safety and maintenance of roofs, an activity that benefits from the tools and safety products made by Vlutters Tools & Safety (part of the SOPREMA Group). De Boer Green Solutions also provides a valuable supplement for the green roof concepts created by IBIC bvba, a subsidiary of SOPREMA.
More complete than ever
As a result of the acquisition, De Boer now has access to the superior SOPREMA natural and thermal insulation materials (PAVATEX and EFYOS), which means it is able to offer a complete waterproofing system. The FLAG synthetic waterproofing range also provides added value for the customers of De Boer.
De Boer’s international reputation and sales will be given a boost thanks to support from the SOPREMA subsidiaries in the North Europe Business Unit (Benelux, UK, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway).
